"Pathu Thala," has Silambarasan TR playing the role of a crime lord named AGR, with Gautham Karthik as the undercover cop. The story revolves around the kidnapping of the Chief Minister and Sakthivel's mission to find out the truth. The film's screenplay is tight but poorly paced, and the characters do not make a significant impact, even though the film is designed to give them importance. The romance between Gautham Karthik and Leela Thompson also lacks depth. The movie's emotional sequences have startling tonal differences, and it is high time Tamil directors stopped overplaying the Robinhood-figure trope. Silambarasan TR's performance is commendable, and his energy on-screen is explosive, but the movie lacks real punch
